The Friends of The Seattle Public Library’s Annual Meeting will be held at 2 – 4 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 7 at the Beacon Hill Branch. Join us and hear Seattle’s favorite librarian Nancy Pearl do what she does best – talk about books!
Nancy Pearl is a librarian, best-selling author, literary critic, and former executive director of the Washington Center for the Book at The Seattle Public Library. She became locally famous in Seattle through her regular appearances on public radio recommending books. Her book reviews now appear in the Seattle Times, Booklist, Library Journal, and the National Public Radio website, and on the radio on KUOW-FM Seattle and KWGS Tulsa, Oklahoma. She is the author of the beloved Book Lust reading guide series. This year, she partnered with Amazon.com in a venture called Book Lust Rediscoveries, to recommend and publish approximately six out-of-print novels each year in various print and electronic formats; for each title, she will provide an introduction, book discussion points, and suggestions for further reading.
Join us to celebrate the contributions of Friends of The Seattle Public Library. In addition to hearing from Nancy Pearl, the Friends will elect new board members and officers, present the “Friend of the Year” award and vote on a bylaw revision.
